The Municipality of Jenin announced on Monday that the city’s idle power station will officially be up and running again next Sunday.

After months of negotiations with the Israeli authorities, the municipality is now finalizing all the necessary paperwork to allow Jenin’s residents access to more electricity.

Jenin’s mayor Mohammad Abu Ghali said in a press release that “the decision to increase his city’s electrical capacity has been officially obtained.”

He added that the Jalameh power station go on a trial run starting Wednesday, until its official operation date begins on July 9.

The Jalameh power station is part of a wider project to build four power plants in central, northern and southern West Bank.
