The revenue from the tourism sector in Jordan has increased by 4.3 percent in February 2018 in comparison to the same month last year, according to preliminary figures released by Jordan’s Central Bank. The boost is attributed to the increase in the number of tourists by 2.5 percent.
Both January and February experienced growth in overall revenue and the number of tourists, though the rate of growth was higher in January. For the first two months of the current year, tourism revenue stood at JD 521.4 million registering a 7.2 percent increase while the number of tourists increased by 6.9 percent.
Statistics of Queen Alia International Airport also confirm the trend as they recorded the highest number of passengers in one month in their 35 year history during January.
Jordan tourism industry has seen marked achievements come to fruition as exemplified by National Geographic Traveler magazine’s selection of the “Jordan Trail” among the 21 best places to visit in 2018.
