Working hours for government employees in Jordan during the holy month of Ramadan will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to state sources in the Cabinet. Such decisions usually exclude employees in departments that are required to work for longer hours.

It is standard practice for government departments in Jordan to shrink their working hours during the holy month. Other private institutions, such as banks, also amend their opening hours to serve customers before and after Iftar, or the time of breaking fast.

This year, Ramadan is most likely to commence on Wednesday, May 16 and continue for either 29 or 30 days.

On the first day, sunrise in Amman will be at 05:39 and sunset at 19:27, meaning Muslims observing the fast will refrain from drinking, eating and smoking for 13 hours, 48 minutes.

The daylight hours will only increase throughout the month as sunrise will shift to 05:30 and sunset to 19:44, bringing the time of fast in the final day ot the month to 14 hours, 14 minutes.
