Jordan Hospital’s management complained in a statement on Saturday, December 8, about the protesters taking up the space near its entrance, after they caused chaos for the Emergency Department, and made it difficult for ambulances and medical staff to reach incoming patients.

The statement said that many patients who were in a critical condition were unable to reach the Emergency Department on Friday night due to the protests.

Protesters’ loud chanting and singing, and the sound of cars beeping have also been very disturbing for the hospital’s inpatients, according to the management.

Hundreds of Jordanians have been protesting against the government’s “corrupt economic policies” in the same location since Thursday evening (December 6).

The hospital said that it respects every civilian and their right to freedom of expression, however, it has urged protestors to respect their patients and those who need access to the Emergency Department, as it is literally a matter of life and death for them.
