The Jordanian House of Representatives has held a conference on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, themed the "Economic Potential of the Diaspora."

During the conference, Director of Foreign Ministry’s Human Rights and Human Security Department Hussam Husseini stated that "Jordan has formed a mosaic-like mixture for over 100 years in hosting refugees of various nationalities, races, and religions."

Nearly 850,000 Jordanians were polarized to neighboring countries to benefit from their skills and competencies, which have positively affected the economy of the Kingdom, Husseini noted.

"The unification of the two shores created a new identity to Jordan and imposed a new reality, after which conflicts came out, causing all these flows of refugees to come to the Kingdom and place pressure on the infrastructure and the economy of Jordan," he pointed out.

Husseini revealed that the total number of refugees in Jordan has so far reached 4,500,000.
