The Egyptian authorities have released the Jordanian student Mohammed Bilal Ahmed Nizami, who was detained earlier this week while he was in Tahrir Square in Cairo, Egypt, Head of the Operations Centre at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Sufian Qudah said on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

In a press statement, Qudah noted that the competent security authorities in Egypt responded to the request of the Jordanian Ambassador in Cairo and released the student.

He pointed out that the Operations Center at the Foreign Ministry and the Jordanian Embassy in Cairo are following up on the reasons for the arrest of two other Jordanian citizens who were also detained as they were in Tahrir Square.

The detainees are currently under investigation, the Egyptian authorities confirmed.

Qudah stressed that the Operations Center and the Jordanian Embassy will follow up on all the details of this matter and provide the necessary consulate and legal services to ensure that the citizens are in good health condition.
