Newly released data revealed that around 264 juveniles including five females have been detained at juvenile detention centers of the Ministry of Social Development since last September, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported. 

Head of the Juvenile and Community Security Directorate at the Ministry Mahmoud Hrout explained that the juveniles were detained on charges of theft, murder, attempted murder, minor and severe abuse, being a cause of death, resisting police officers, drug and several others.

The Ministry's media spokesman Ashraf Khreis confirmed that the Ministry takes full care of the juveniles and offers them special rehabilitation programs.

The latest crime committed by a juvenile took place this morning, where a juvenile stabbed his father to death in Irbid governorate.
