A laboratory with the capacity to carry out 6,000 coronavirus tests per day will open within a week at Queen Alia International Airport, the government announced Saturday.

The Minister of Health Saad Jaber revealed the plan during a press conference regarding the launch of the Hayat Network which aims to assist people who travel to the country for medical tourism. He also said laboratories will be set up at some land borders.

Reopening the country for medical tourism – involving 20 hospitals across the Kingdom – will not affect the repatriation of Jordanians, or the entry of Arab citizens, said the minister.

Jaber added that many countries had requested their citizens be granted access to Jordan as a result of the stable health situation.
