People who stay up beyond midnight will not report COVID-19 cases to the authorities, said the Minister of Health, as he responded to calls for the curfew to be removed.

“Citizens who stay up late after midnight, will not report each other to the authorities if one of them was infected with coronavirus,” said Saad Jaber.

If a party was held beyond midnight it would be difficult to identify and control all contacts, said Jaber, adding citizens should be aware of the continued health threat.

Jaber criticised the lack of commitment by people to adhere to safety conditions and wear masks. He said the curfew acts as a reminder of the health risk for Jordanians.
