Five new coronavirus cases, all from abroad, were confirmed in Jordan on Monday, bringing the total number to 1,223 since the beginning of the crisis.

The cases involve two Jordanians who have arrived from Bahrain, two Jordanians arriving from Syria and one Jordanian arriving from Saudi Arabia. They are all in hotel quarantine.

Four recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from Prince Hamzah Hospital on Monday.

A total of 6,066 laboratory tests were carried out, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the beginning of the crisis to 519,998.

The World Health Organisation requested for the Ministry of Health not to count coronavirus cases of infected non-Jordanian truck drivers who were discovered infected at borders and then returned to the country they came from.

Jordan must only count the cases that entered the Kingdom's hospitals.

The total number of COVID-19 cases will be updated on Tuesday, counting only cases that entered Jordanian hospitals.

The Ministry of Health reiterated the need to adhere to preventive measures, wearing masks, social distancing, and the use of Aman and Sehtak applications.
