Despite international efforts to develop an effective vaccine for COVID-19, there may not be a “magic solution" for the emerging virus, said the World Health Organization (WHO) in an online press conference on Friday.

“The global coronavirus outbreak is the sort of disaster whose effects will last far into the future,” said WHO Director General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

"The pandemic is a once-in-a-century health crisis, the effects of which will be felt for decades to come.”

Studies done on antibodies showed that most people will remain vulnerable to this virus, he said.

Countries who thought the worst is behind them are struggling with new outbreaks and are in danger of a second wave.
