Kenyan migrant workers are camping outside the consulate of Kenya in Beirut demanding authorities take action to help them go home.

A video by Lujainjo on instagram shows women and their children peacefully demonstrating outside the consulate building, calling on officials in the Kenyan consulates in Lebanon and Kuwait to resign because they have failed to help them.

"This consulate of ours is requesting like 500 or 400 dollars to go home. That is LBP 4 million! How can we get that money?" said one of the protesters.

The consulate released an statement on their website stating the consulate is now inviting Kenyans working in Lebanon, both legally and illegally, to register if they wish to go back home when the airports in Nairobi and Beirut reopen.

Kenyan female workers have been subjected to verbal abuse and physical violence while living on the streets.
