Sunday, the State Security Court delayed proceedings in its third public hearing in the Zarqa attack case after one defendant admitted to a number of charges. The proceedings will resume Monday.
On Oct. 13, a 16-year-old boy, later identified as Saleh, was violently attacked by a group of men, during which his eyes were gouged out and his forearms were severed.
Fifteen other defendants pleaded not guilty to their nine charges, involving carrying out terrorist acts, endangering society, creating terror among people, endangering lives by use of weapons, causing permanent disability, kidnapping, resisting arrest, possession of unlicensed firearms, pre-meditated murder and accessories to murder within the limits of several Jordanian legislative acts.
One defendant is being tried in absentia.
The court session was headed by the President of the State Security Court Military Judge Lieutenant Colonel Muwaffaq Al-Masaeed, and was attended by the Civil Judge Afif Al-Khawaldeh, Military Judge Lieutenant Colonel Amer Halaseh, and the State Security Prosecutor Military Judge Major Yousef Khreisat.
