Thursday, the Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Al-Kasbi, announced that the newly constructed series of bridges along the Sweimah-Dead Sea Road have had all basic works on them completed.

The bridge project, which began two years ago, occured in the wake of the Dead Sea tragedy wherein 22 people, most of whom were children, were swept away by flash floods near the Dead Sea.

In statements to Roya, Kasabi said that the road will be opened for trucks and tankers in the near future, in coordination with the concerned authorities.

His Majesty King Abdullah II inspected these bridges Dec. 2.

His Majesty was briefed by Kasabi on the rehabilitation work which was fully completed within the project of protecting and rehabilitating eight bridges on the Dead Sea-Aqaba Road.

Kasabi explained that the Dead Sea - Aqaba Road protection and bridge rehabilitation was implemented via four bids worth JD 12 million.
