Thursday, Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced in a Facebook post that Donald Trump will be banned from using Facebook and Instagram until at least the rest of his term.
The company originally blocked Trump's accounts temporarily Wednesday following Trump’s posts that provoked his supporters to invade the Capitol, but then extended the ban until after the transition of power to Joe Biden, which is set to take place on Jan. 20.
Zuckerberg wrote, "We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great."
"Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete."
