Pulmonologist Mohammad al-Tarawneh Tuesday praised the vaccines manufactured to protect people from viruses, saying they are the most important achievement of mankind. He added that these vaccines prevent approximately six million deaths from deadly infectious diseases.

Regarding coronavirus vaccines, he explained that they have contributed to reducing the number of COVID-19 deaths and the number of cases that require hospitalization.

As for the emergence of new coronavirus strains and mutations, Tarawneh said it is expected and not strange. He also stressed the need to continue developing coronavirus vaccines that are effective against mutated variants.

Tarawneh listed a number of infection and respiratory failure symptoms including chest pain, fever, bluish lips, decreased consciousness and shortness of breath. In case any of these symptoms appear, he stressed the need to continue abiding by quarantine and health measures, and call the Ministry of Health's hotline to receive the necessary medical care.
