Sunday, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) announced that Instant messaging mobile applications will be blocked in all schools where Tawjihi examinations will be held from June 24 until July 15.

The TRC said arrangements have been made with telecommunication companies to enforce the ban minutes before the start of every examination until shortly after students leave examination halls. The decision aims to prevent cheating and sharing of exam questions, the statement added.

The TRC noted that areas near these schools might be affected by the ban but assured citizens that it will only last for the duration of examinations.
