The deadline set by the Israeli Occupation ends Sunday for 13 Palestinian families who received orders to demolish their homes in Al-Bustan Quarter, in occupied Jerusalem's Silwan neighborhood.

The families only received a 21-day notice.

Earlier June, the Israeli Occupation in Jerusalem sent notifications of renewal of house demolition notices belonging to 13 families in Al-Bustan.

The Palestinian homes are among 86 homes that the Israeli Occupation courts had issued demolition orders against without specifying specific dates for the destruction.

The Israeli Occupation said if the 13 houses are not demolished by the deadline, they would demolish the houses themselves and issue fines for demolition costs.

This is part of the policy of ethnic cleansing and liquidation of the Arab presence in neighborhoods near Al-Aqsa Mosque which aims to change the demographic structure and increase the number of settlers in Jerusalem.

The Al-Bustan quarter in Silwan is home to 119 Palestinian families in 88 buildings that are under constant threat of demolishment to make way for an Israeli Occupation archaeological park.

For the past 16 years, local Palestinians received threats of the demolishment of roughly 90 homes under the pretext of "building without a permit." The forced uprooting would then favor Zionist settler organizationa that seeks to turn the land into a national park.

The Isralei Occupation has already officially changed Al-Bustan's name to Gan Hamelekh (The King's Garden), claiming that it was a garden for Israelite kings thousands of years ago.

Ironically, Al-Bustan also translates into 'The Garden.'

Silwan is home to around 33,000 Palestinians. The neighborhood has been targeted by settler organizations for years upon years.

According to the Palestinian News Agency WAFA, Palestinian families have been forced to share homes with settlers in some cases.

A handful of these Palestinian families have been living in Silwan for half a century after they were displaced from Jerusalem's Old City in the 60s.

The Israeli Occupation's widely practiced and globally ignored policy of home demolitions and destruction of other properties targets entire indigenous families.

These demolitions are a violation of international human rights law and international law.
