The first day of Eid al-Adha in many countries across the world is likely to fall on Saturday, July 9, according to the International Astronomy Center Monday.

The director of the International Astronomy Center Mohammed Shawkat Odeh said that the Islamic month of Dhu Al Hijjah will begin Thursday, June 30. Eid Al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijjah, the 12th and last month of the Islamic calendar.

The Islamic holiday Day of Arafah, which falls on the day before Eid, will be on July 8, and Saturday, July 9, will be the first day of Eid al-Adha, he noted.
