Tunisians and Algerians cross the land border at Maloula near the Tunisian town of Tabarka after the two countries reopened their frontiers following nearly two years of closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jana Galila, a retiree and tourist from Algeria, told AFP: "It made us very, very happy. It's been something very good for us because we had been waiting for it with impatience. So it was really good for us, yes, we're very happy."

Additionally, Gharbi Larbiya, traveler from Algeria visiting family in Tunisia, said, "I am happy [about the borders reopening], we are brothers with the Tunisians. We can't stay without them, and vice versa. We're like one body."
