A man, in his twenties, set himself on fire inside a market in Fquih Ben Salah Province in Morocco and sustained third-degree burns, according to local media.

He did so using gasoline and was left with serious burns on the neck, abdomen, arms and hips.

The authorities launched an investigation to find out the reasons behind what he did and later revealed the man is unemployed and is likely to suffer from a mental illness.

Additionally, it was reported that the man has a criminal record, and has attempted suicide more than once before, the last of which was about four months ago by ingesting a toxic substance.

The injured was taken to a nearby hospital, before he was taken to Casablanca, according to media outlets.
