The authorities of the Israeli Occupation banned Gaza from importing donkeys after a Hebrew organization was concerned with human rights violations.

Livestock traders in Gaza believe that the reason for the ban is due to allegations that claim traders torture donkeys and smuggle them to Egypt to sell their skins to China.

The traders completely denied the allegations, especially in light of the sector's need for large numbers of donkeys.

Notably, donkeys receive great attention from different groups in Gaza as many use them for transportation and work, especially farmers and street vendors.

Livestock traders in Gaza say that the Gaza Strip needs to supply over 1,000 donkeys annually, in order to meet the needs of their farmers, vendors and others.
