Monday, thousands of Instagram users reported receiving messages that said their accounts have been suspended, locked or deleted for no apparent reason.
The social media platform issued a statement on Twitter saying they have been made aware of the issue and are currently looking into it before apologizing to their users for the inconvenience.

According to the tracking website Downdetector, thousands of users around the world were affected by the mysterious bug.
"We suspended your account on 31 October 2022," the alert users received read.

Many took to Twitter to poke fun at what has been happening.
One user likened himself to a clown as he posted a picture of one alongside the caption "Me trying to recover my Instagram account."

Another user wrote, "me on my way to twitter after instagram randomly decides to suspend my account," next to a meme from SpongeBob SquarePants.

One person, whose account was unaffected, jokingly taunted other users by writing, "How I'm watching y'all panic over Instagram when my Instagram is fine."
