The company that manufactured the official ball of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar issued a statement saying that Cristiano Ronaldo made no contact with the ball and therefore was not the one responsible for the goal in the match that took place between Portugal and Uruguay on Monday.

This came following controversy on who should be the one to take credit for the goal; Ronaldo or Bruno Fernandes.

Ronaldo believed he was the last one to touch the ball but the goal was awarded to Fernandes which left Ronaldo unhappy.

The company’s statement said, “We are able to definitively show no contact on the ball from Cristiano Ronaldo for the opening goal in the game.

“No external force on the ball could be measured as shown by the lack of ‘heartbeat’ in our measurements and in the attached graphic.

“The 500Hz IMU sensor inside the ball allows us to be highly accurate in our analysis.”
