Pumping water from the Disi and Zay water stations will resume Saturday in several areas in Amman, Zarqa, and Balqa, after completing the maintenance work that had been announced by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation earlier.

Earlier, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation had announced the decision to stop pumping water from the Disi and Zay water stations for a period of six days from Sunday, Nov. 27, until Saturday, Dec. 3, for necessary maintenance.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Water And Irrigation Omar Salameh told Roya that the ministry carries out periodic maintenance of water facilities that operate around the clock, stressing that any interruption during the summer negatively affects water resources, as the water consumption is normally higher during the summer.

He pointed out that maintenance work will be carried out to replace damaged pumps, in addition to periodic maintenance of power lines to ensure their durability.

He stressed that additional quantities of water, about 10 percent, will be pumped in the week prior to the suspension.
