A plane carrying the 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning Argentina national team arrived at ICESSA International Airport in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, returning from Qatar.

The team won the final in Qatar 4-2 on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw over 120 minutes of unparallelled drama.

The players will spend the night at the Argentine Football Association's training complex, where thousands of fans are waiting to welcome them.

The players then were scheduled to begin a tour of downtown Buenos Aires, greeted by millions in the streets with the declaration of an official holiday in the country.

Messi, who scored two goals during the final match, was the first player to get off the plane carrying the championship trophy, and immediately after him, coach Lionel Scaloni.
