Pro-Palestine account was banned on TikTok after publishing a video handing out Palestinian flags to people in Qatar during the World Cup.

The account owner, who lives in Canada and goes by the name ‘Bandage’, said in a video posted on Instagram that he was banned from TikTok after supporting his country, Palestine.

The message from TikTok read, “Your account was banned. If you believe this was a mistake, you can submit an appeal.”

Much of his content on social media is concerned with health as well, as he uses his work as a paramedic to ‘teach people how to save lives.’

He noted that he found the application to be ‘sensitive’ and will not allow him to use words such as ‘blood’ or ‘dead’ when he tries to teach people life saving measures.

Many took to Instagram to criticize TikTok’s move with one user commenting, “It’s funny how many times they try to silence us but they always fail! Palestine will be free Inshallah.”

“Good! They banned you in hope that you will stop sounding the truth. Well, fight harder and make them swallow their pride,” another comment read.

Another user shared his own experience saying, “I went through the same thing because my page is all about Palestine.”

Notably, this is not the first time social media platforms ban accounts and posts supporting Palestine. According to activists and celebrities, there were many occasions when their posts about the plight of Palestinians were censored by Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

In 2021, following the violations and provocations of the Israeli Occupation across occupied Palestine, Instagram banned users from using and circulating the hashtag “Al-Aqsa.”
