Results of the 9,300 PCR tests conducted across Jordan last Tuesday revealed that the COVID-19 situation in the country is stable.

The tests were conducted by the Ministry of Health, based on the recommendation of the National Committee for Epidemics.

Raed Shboul, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health for Primary Health Care and Epidemiology Affairs, said that the number of positive cases reached 154 cases.

Earlier, the head of the National Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases Center Raeda Qutob said that Jordan has not recorded any deaths from the coronavirus over the past few weeks.

There has been a significant drop in the number of coronavirus cases over the past four months, according to Qutob.

She said that a new strain of the Omicron has been reported in several countries, which is why Jordan is planning on increasing the number of coronavirus tests, in order to know the extent of the spread of the virus, identify new strains and keep the health situation under control.

She said that despite the rapid spread of newer strains, the symptoms of the virus are mild and last for no more than five days.
