Tuesday, the Israeli occupation Forces (IOF) demolished two houses in Beit Jala and al-Walaja, northwest of the Bethlehem, under the pretext of construction without a permits, as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Notably, one of the homeowners had a court order allowing him to continue building his house, but that did not stop the IOF from demolishing it.

Beit Jala mayor Issa Qassis told WAFA that the IOF demolished the one-story house claiming the owner did not have a permit, despite the fact that the owner had obtained the necessary court order to build his house.

The head of al-Walaja village council Khader Abu al-Tin told WAFA that the IOF showed up, raided the Ein Jweiza area with a bulldozer and demolished a 100-square-meter house claiming it did not have the necessary licenses.

Abu al-Tin pointed out that the Israeli Occupation has had its eye on Ein Jweiza for settlement projects and has been working on displacing Palestinians in the area for years.

This comes following a series of home demolitions in occupied Jerusalem and across the West Bank.

Notably, Palestinians began a general strike Thursday in the town of Jabal Mukaber, southeast of Jerusalem, in protest of the Israeli Occupation’s home demolitions.
