Snow expected in areas 800 meters above sea level, says Meteorological Department

The cold air mass has intensified in Jordan and rainy weather continues in the north and center parts of the Kingdom and parts of the southern and eastern regions, according to the Meteorological Department Tuesday.

Rainfall is expected to be heavy in the western parts of the Kingdom, accompanied by thunder and hail.

Additionally, snowfall is in the forecast in areas that are higher than 900 meters above sea level occasionally.

The department added that in the late night hours, 800-meter areas are expected to witness snowfall, with accumulations varying according to the height.

Earlier Tuesday, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) reiterated the importance of being extra cautious during the current unstable weather conditions in Jordan.

The PSD noted that all roads in the Kingdom are easily passable, with the exception of Al-Shobak Road, which is passable with caution, due to clear ice on the road.

In addition to the Wadi Al-Qamar Road in the Rusaifa area, which is partially closed due to flooding.

Abu Sayyah Road in eastern Amman is the only blocked road right now, due to flooding.

The PSD called on citizens to avoid valleys and places where floods could form.

It also reiterated the need to use heaters of all kinds with cation, which means they should only be used in rooms with proper ventilation and should be switched off before going to bed.

The PSD called on citizens and residents not hesitate to call 911 in case of emergencies.
