Palestinians throughout the occupied territories today held sit-ins in support of freedom fighters incarcerated in Israeli Occupation prisons who are struggling to win their internationally-guaranteed rights and are on their 22nd day of struggle against new repressive prison rules.

During the sit-in at Red Cross offices in Ramallah/Al-Bireh, participants handed a letter to the Red Cross demanding that the international organization follow up the case of the prisoners, mainly the women prisoners as they mark International Women’s Day.

Some of the sit-ins focused on female prisoners as the world marks International Women’s Day.

Participants held slogans demanding justice for the prisoners, mainly the sick ones, and better treatment in the prisons.

A report by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said that 172 women were detained by the Israeli occupation forces in 2022, whereas 129 of them were from Jerusalem Governorate.

While 29 women are still in Israeli prisons until the end of 2022, two among them are minors and two detainees are held under administrative detention without charge or trial. Also, 18 women were killed by Israeli army gunfire in 2022, and one woman was killed this year.
