For the 27th consecutive day, thousands of Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli Occupation prisons continue their civil disobedience measures against the repression campaign initiated by Israeli Occupation Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Civil disobedience includes closing different prison sections, stopping aspects of daily life, refusing to wear the mandatory jail uniform and objecting to security checkups.

The civil disobedience measures will escalate to an open-ended hunger strike beginning on the first day Ramadan, unless the Israeli Occupation Prison Service responds to their demands, according to the Detainees Affairs Commission.

On Feb. 14, the Supreme Emergency Committee for Palestinian Prisoners Affairs announced the beginning of civil disobedience, including the reduction of the hours during which Palestinian prisoners can use the shower area.

On Jan. 8, Ben Gvir announced the cancellation of the policy which allows any lawmaker in the Israeli Occupations Knesset to visit incarcerated Palestinians in prison.

Notably, Palestinians have been resorting to hunger strikes since 1968 to fight issues such as solitary confinement, denial of family visits, and inadequate medical treatment among other measures.
