Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Russia next week, Beijing's foreign ministry said Friday.
"At the invitation of President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation, President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Russia from March 20 to 22," the ministry said in a statement.
Wang Wenbin, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson, said: "In recent years, President Xi Jinping and President Putin have maintained a close exchange. They have charted a course and provided guidance for the sustained, sound, and steady growth of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership and coordination for a new era. The two sides have found a path of major country relations, featuring strategic trust, and cooperation, setting a new model for international relations."
He added that during the visit, President Xi will conduct an exchange of views with President Putin on bilateral relations and on major international and regional issues of mutual interest, boost strategic coordination and practical cooperation between the two countries, and inject new impetus into the growth of bilateral ties.
