A total of 115 individuals were arrested across Jordan for begging for money, according to the Anti-Vagrancy Department at the Ministry of Social Development Friday.
The Ministry, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), carried out a campaign to put an end to begging during the holy month of Ramadan.
The campaign included an awareness-raising component entitled 'Together Against Begging' to educate citizens and residents on the negative effects of begging.
The ministry distributed educational brochures and hung posters about the dangers of begging and its impact on society, with a focus on mosques and markets where beggars are often present.
The ministry stressed the importance of citizens' awareness, saying they should do their part to reduce begging by not giving them money.
