Friday, a video circulated across social media platforms showing German police officers taking a child from his family home, which sparked outrage and controversy on social media networking sites.

Activists expressed their dissatisfaction with the behavior of the German police towards the child, who was screaming and crying as they took him away from his family.

According to the clip, the decision to take him away was based on complaints submitted by a neighbor that the child was repeatedly heard screaming.

The complaint prompted the police to act to ensure that the child is not being subjected to violence and remain under state supervision until the matter is investigated and resolved.

In the video, the Arab woman could be heard telling the police that the child suffers from "electric shocks in the brain," which causes him to scream and have epileptic seizures.

She also said that what the police are doing may cause him harm.

Notably, according to German laws, in the event that a complaint is submitted against anyone being subjected to violence, the authorities must intervene in order to protect people and ensure their safety.

It has not been officially determined what prompted the German police to take the child from his family.

In a tweet, the German police addressed the issue saying: "The police are aware of the video. It is a case from Bremerhaven. The video has been forwarded for internal review."

According to AFP's investigation unit, the video is new and the team is currently working on verifying the location and other details.
