British musician Ed Sheeran said Thursday he was "very happy" to have won a US lawsuit that accused him of copying Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" when composing his hit "Thinking Out Loud."

The 32-year-old pop phenom added though that he was "unbelievably frustrated that baseless claims like this" even make it to court, after a New York jury ruled in his favor.

Sheeran told the press after the trial: "I'm obviously very happy with the outcome of the case and it looks like I'm not having to retire from my day job after all, but at the same time, I'm unbelievably frustrated that baseless claims like this are allowed to go to court at all."
