Sunday, the President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election as President of Turkey.

Abbas said: "We are pleased, on the occasion of your victory and re-election as President of the Republic of Turkey for a new presidential term, and the victory of your party, the Justice and Development Party, in the first place in the Turkish Parliament, and the victory of the People's Alliance led by the party in the majority in Parliament, to send you, and, through you, to Turkish people, in the name of the state and people of Palestine and in my own name, with the warmest expressions of heartfelt congratulations and blessings; confident that, with the grace of God and your wisdom and courage, you will continue the path of development and achieve the great achievements of Turkey and its brotherly people," as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

He expressed his pride in the historical relations of solidarity that unite the two countries and peoples, appreciating Erdogan's principled and steadfast stances in supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause.
