A team of students from Yarmouk University (YU) and Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) from Jordan achieved second place in the global final of the Huawei ICT Competition 2022-2023.

The competition took place in China and the Jordanian team participated in the "Network Track" category.

YU released a statement Monday announcing the victory, revealing that the winning team was composed of Yazan Shnik from YU's Faculty of Information Technology, as well as Aws Rayyan and Hamza Zubaidi from PSUT.

Supervising the team's participation was Ahmed Kleib, the Director of the YU Center for E-Learning and Open Educational Resources.

Kleib emphasized that the competition featured 140 teams from 62 countries around the world.

The main goal of the competition, according to Kleib, was to enhance the technological and information capabilities of youth.

It aimed to help nurture a talented generation that will contribute to the development of the Kingdom's digital economy and drive social and economic progress using modern technologies.

YU President Islam Massad extended congratulations to Jordan’s team and praised the efforts of the faculty members for equipping students with the necessary skills to pursue "outstanding" career opportunities in the regional workforce.
