The Traffic Department provided Tuesday an explanation for the rise in the death toll resulting from the tragic Mafraq accident, which claimed the lives of nine individuals.

The primary cause for the increased number of fatalities was the improper loading of passengers in areas not designated for that.

Earlier Tuesday, at least nine people were killed and 12others were injured in a traffic accident in northern Badia, according to Roya's correspondent.

A security source said that civil defense cadres and security services rushed to the accident scene.

The injured were transferred to a hospital.
