Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino joined Al Ahli, a team in the Saudi Professional League, after his departure from Liverpool. Firmino joined on a free transfer four days after his contract with Liverpool expired.

Videos on the Al Ahli Twitter page show Firmino signing his contract and training. “I always played for big teams. Now I’m in Al Ahli,” Firmino said in a video.

As part of his contract with the Saudi team, Firmino will reportedly make USD 22 million per season.

The 31-year-old signed a three-year contract and will join goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who also left the Premier League after playing three seasons for Chelsea.

Al Ahli spent the 2022-2023 season in the second division, but the team rejoined the Saudi Pro League. Al Ahli’s coach, South American Pitso Mosimane left the team. The team is still looking for a coach.

Firmino joined Liverpool in 2015 and helped win seven trophies, with titles in the Champions League, FA Club, and Premiere League.

He scored his 111th goal for Liverpool during their last game in May, after eight seasons and 362 appearances.

Firmino is one of many players to join the Saudi Pro League, including Karim Benzema, Christiano Ronaldo, and Hakim Ziyech.

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler recently joined Al Qadisiya, a team in the Saudi Pro League, as a coach.
