Social media platform X reinstated the account of the artist formerly known as Kanye West, now going by the name "Ye," on Saturday. The account had been suspended nearly eight months ago due to violations of the platform's rules, specifically regarding incitement to violence.

Upon its restoration, Ye's account reflects his last post from December 1, which was made just a day before the suspension on platform X (formerly known as Twitter, after being acquired by Elon Musk).

However, there are certain limitations to Ye's reinstated account on X. He won't be able to monetize his presence on the platform, and advertisements will not be displayed alongside his posts, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing the social media platform's policy.

The initial suspension of Ye's account occurred in December after he had posted content featuring a swastika symbol within a Star of David. Following this incident, his account was reinstated for a short period before being suspended again.

To ensure the account's reinstatement this time, X received assurances that Ye would not use the platform to share any form of antisemitic or harmful language, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Since his return to the platform, Ye has not posted any new content.

As of now, there has been no immediate response from the social media platform in regards to Reuters' request for comment.

The owner of X, Elon Musk, identifies himself as a free speech absolutist and had welcomed Kanye West's return to the platform in October when the account was first reinstated.

Notably, Musk had also previously reinstated the account of former US President Donald Trump after a poll, wherein 14.8 million Twitter users participated, with 51.8 percent voting in favor of the reinstatement. However, Trump declined the offer, stating his preference for his new platform, Truth Social.
