Polish authorities reported an increase in the Legionella bacteria-related death toll, reaching 11 individuals, while the number of infections has reached 144 cases.

The ages of the fatalities due to pneumonia linked to the bacteria ranged 64 to 95 years old, with all victims having underlying chronic health conditions.

Legionnaires' disease, a severe respiratory infection caused by the bacteria, is transmitted through contaminated water consumption or inhalation via air conditioning systems.

Preliminary results of tests on 105 water samples revealed varying levels of Legionella bacteria in half of the initial 18 samples examined.
