On the occasion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Action Day, celebrated annually on 25 September, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Harry Verweij officially opened the Orange Corners Jordan (OCJ) Incubator.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at the King Hussein Business Park, in the presence of Mr. Omar Hamaraneh, Managing Director of iPARK and the young Jordanian entrepreneurs who are taking part in the program.

Orange Corners is an initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands that provides young entrepreneurs across the Middle East, Africa and Asia with training, mentorship, network, funding, and facilities to start and grow their businesses. OC supports innovative solutions to local challenges, that contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. OC Jordan is currently supporting 40 young and ambitious Jordanian entrepreneurs who have gone beyond the idea stage, built a minimum viable product and have been in business for at least one year.

The incubator, located at the King Hussein Business Park, is open to the young entrepreneurs of OCJ. They can use this facility to work on their business, as well as meet with their peers and mentors, access resources and attend workshops.

“It is great to see the Dutch incubator, Orange Corners come to life in Jordan. OCJ aims to inspire creativity and give young Jordanian people the power to shape their own futures and develop business ideas that not only solve global challenges but also contribute to achieving the SDGs,” said Ambassador Verweij.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands initiated SDG Action Day to highlight the importance and progress made in achieving them. To celebrate the SDGs’ anniversary and underline the need to accelerate efforts to achieve them, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Jordan joined thousands of buildings throughout the Netherlands and missions abroad in raising the SDG flag.

OC in Jordan is being implemented in partnership with the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship and iPARK.
