After three lean years in the vital tourism sector, Jordan has surged to the eighth position in the Arab world and sixty-first globally as one of the most attractive destinations, welcoming nearly 3,567,000 visitors since the start of 2023.

Hotel occupancy rates in Aqaba reached 100 percent over the weekend, driven by a diverse range of artistic, cultural, recreational and sports activities.

On World Tourism Day, tourism leads the fastest-growing sectors in a country boasting 15,000 registered archaeological and touristic sites out of a total of 100,000, forming what is now known as an "open-air museum."

Data from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities indicates that the tourism sector employs 57,100 individuals, compared to 54,700 at the end of 2022.

Furthermore, the number of tourism establishments has risen to 3,312 by mid-2023, an increase of 89 registered establishments from the previous year.

Currently, there are 625 different-level hotels, 1,193 tourist restaurants, and 885 tourism and travel offices, along with 16 tourist transport companies and 252 car rental agencies operating in the sector.
