Morocco has confirmed an increase in the death toll resulting from the earthquake that struck multiple cities on Sept. 8, rising from 2,946 to 2,960 individuals.

Mustafa Paytas, the Moroccan government spokesperson, made this announcement during a press conference following a government meeting.

He stated that ongoing efforts in the field include the assessment of collapsed homes and coordination among various agencies. The government aims to complete the assessment of damaged homes by the end of the month.

Following this, affected families will receive financial assistance of USD 250 per month, beginning in September and lasting for one year.

The previous death toll was reported on Sept. 13, before the updated figure was disclosed.
