The Chief of Staff of the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), Herzi Halevi, stated: "We are compelled to enter Gaza by land."

He added that the objectives of the war require a ground invasion, as "there are no achievements without risks and no victory without paying the price."

This came after the spokesperson for Hamas, Abu Ubaida, gave a speech and said: "Gaza will remain, and the occupation will retreat."
