Russian Foreign Ministry called for "collective action" to end the war in Gaza.

Moscow maintains relations with both Hamas and Tel Aviv and has previously suggested it could play a mediator role in the conflict.

"Given the unprecedented escalation of violence in the conflict area, calls for collective action to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, including the convening of an international summit, are intensifying" The Russian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday.

Moscow actively supports such calls and advocates for a multilateral approach to manage the conflict, the ministry added in the statement. "As history has shown, attempts to monopolize mediation efforts have not led to the ability to control conflicts, but rather to the escalation we are witnessing now," in criticism of Western policies in the Middle East

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that Moscow could play a role as a mediator in the conflict, as it maintains relations with both Hamas and Tel Aviv, but officials have not yet made any significant breakthroughs regarding the release of hostages held in Gaza or ending the fighting.
