The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) declared a medium-level emergency effective Tuesday morning to address the impact of an approaching low-pressure system centered over Cyprus, as reported by the Meteorological Department.
Nasser Al-Rahamneh, the municipality's spokesperson, affirmed the field readiness of municipal teams to respond to any reports received by the emergency room in Tlaa Al-Ali.
He urged citizens to contact the unified call center numbers (102 and 117180) if they observe any issues.
Residents are advised to exercise caution by staying away from drainage channels and low-lying areas.
Rahamneh emphasized avoiding connecting house gutters to sewage drains to prevent flooding on roads.
Additionally, he urged against indiscriminate waste disposal, which could lead to the closure of rainwater drainage lines.
It was stressed that residents should inspect submersible pumps in lower-level floors and commercial spaces below street level.
Merchants were encouraged to take precautionary measures when storing goods in warehouses and basement levels.
Contractors and project owners were called upon to secure construction materials to prevent their displacement and direct impact on rainwater drainage lines.
