Reuters reported that the United Nations (UN) Security Council is set to vote on a draft resolution this Wednesday, calling for an urgent and extended humanitarian ceasefire and humanitarian corridors throughout Gaza to facilitate aid access.

Earlier, Reuters cited an informed source on ongoing negotiations, stating that Qatari mediators are attempting to broker an agreement between Hamas and Tel Aviv.

The proposed deal includes the release of around 50 civilians captives in the Gaza Strip in exchange for a three-day cessation of hostilities.

The official mentioned that the agreement, being discussed in coordination with the United States, would also involve Tel Aviv releasing some Palestinian women and children from its prisons and allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza.

The source added that while Hamas has agreed to the general principles of the agreement, Tel Aviv has not yet agreed and is still negotiating the details.

Notably, the release of all detainees in Gaza is not currently under discussion.
