The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, stated that the Union, consisting of 27 countries that were once at war, has achieved peace for nearly 80 years.
He emphasized that the tragedy in Gaza is a result of a global political and moral failure over the past decade.
Borrell warned that the European Union must act to prevent the escalation of the heavy price paid by both Tel Aviv and the Palestinians.
He acknowledged that the Union, despite being proof of achieving peace in the Middle East, still faces differing views among member countries due to diverse histories, cultures, and geography.
Borrell highlighted the lack of a roadmap for the two-state solution, citing the growing forces of denial in both camps.
He underscored the need to end the cycle of violence to prevent it from perpetuating through generations.
